I cut one out from a donor Z and blasted/powdercoated it to prevent rust. I cut as close to the edges as possible. I'm simply reinstalled it with the 2 factory screws and have found it to be more than adequate; no welding required. There is "dead space" below the tray that is the perfect location for wastegate actuator(s) to sit away from heat, out of site, and near the wastegates. You could quite easily fab a simple base for the battery to sit on and just drill 2 holes to mount it to the factory location. It'd be easy to use a couple eye-bolts for the battery tie-down bar as well, if you're not handy with a welder.
